Actually, that was Hiram Bullock on guitar on "Little Wing", with Kenwood Dennard on drums. That version still brings tears to my eyes. Amazing feel from both Hiram, and Kenwood.

Sting also does a great version of Wind Cries Mary with Vinnie on drums from the Hendrix tribute disc In From The Storm. 1 of the last sessions that Tony Williams did before his untimely death too.

Indeed, Kenwood does a great job on LW...& the gtr & sax solos are quite emotive & very good. The feel is more of a straight 4, AOT Hendrix's trip. feel...

I also have a lesser known '86 album from rock fusion gtrst Daryll Dobson called the Mind Electric with Kenwood doing a great job ["Thor, pt. 1 & 2"]...it also has Delmar Brown, Kenny Kirkland, L Shankar, Robert Thomas on perc, & other drummers Tony Smith & Rick Sebastian on 2/1 tracks....

Yeah, I VHS'd both the Letterman & Today show appearances...for the 'poppier' side of blues-jazz, it was nice stuff...really nice shots of our elegant Mr. E, both long & close, front & back...

The kicks/hits were really hip within the 'Chicago-ish jazzy-blues shuffle'...
...& Man, that pocket was soooo relaxed & deep; talk about your 'cool breeze'...like sitting WAY back in a really comfortable recliner...when you talk about pockets of this level - PE, Gadd, Jeff, Vega, & a few others come to mind... I taped the letterman show last night and watched it this morning....pretty cool tune...a nice bluesy kinda number....erskoman can sure play a mean Blakey shuffle (or mel lewis shuffle, depending which name you prefer)...I agree that they all looked like they were having a great time...and those two over the shoulder shots of erskoman were great...two thumbs up!!! Hey guys ... THANK YOU for listening and being so supportive. Those 2 shows were a lot of fun to do (though it's pretty surreal to get up at 4 a.m. and go play a short while later) ... the crews at both TV shows were very friendly and cooperative; real professional. Nice band, too ...

Picked up the new Diana Krall cd today, great stuff. Erskoman sounds great, as does Jeff Hamilton and 1 track by Terry Lynn Carrington.
